JOE WILES: Hey, this is Joe Wiles with the Rock and Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert
Village. In this video segment, we're going to be looking at number 75 which is "All My
Life" by the Foo Fighters. We're in standard tuning, E, A, D, G, B and E, and we're going
to play two-finger power chord. The intro to the song is based around this power chord.
There's no other chord in this song. What makes it a signature lick is the rhythm and
how you play it. We're going to put our index finger on the 3rd fret of the low E string,
ring finger on the 5th fret of the A string. We'll also going to palm mute which is lightly
resting this part of your hand across the back into the strings here by the bridge.
Okay? It should sound like this. It shouldn't ring out like this. And don't press too hard,
or else it will mute the strings too much. Just lightly rest it there. It will sound
like this. Now, the picking pattern is all down strums, okay? It's in a 1-2-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3,
okay? Just like that. It sounds like this. And you could tell on my left hand between
each of the strum groupings, I'm relaxing my fingers so the strings don't ring out.
To speed, it sounds like this. That's a really simple song. So I don't' think you'll have
a hard time getting it. In our next segment, we're going to take a look at number 74. I'll
see you there.
