Well, I like to think of myself as a helpful person. I like to think that I could help
other people, and certainly when I first started uni, being a mature student, I found that
I felt like I was on my first day of school all them years ago. And I'm not saying that
to become a mentor you need to be older, what I'm saying is, you know, we've all had them
feelings where when you come to uni for the first time, you feel a bit unsure, you know,
you don't know what to expect. So that was one of the main reasons I became a mentor,
really. I feel I've benefited because of the skills
that you're developing, the training that's offered, also it looks good on your CV at
the end of it, so any prospective employers in the future can look at that and see exactly
what you've done at uni, not just on your course.
A student benefits from being mentored because as a second or third year student myself,
you know, mentoring somebody who's just come to university for the first time is an experience
that you've had yourself as a student.
