Prince William and Kate Middleton have survived a year of marriage in the spotlight. But it
must be hard coping with life's ups and downs under the full scrutiny of the world's press
-- which is probably why so many celebrity marriages end in divorce.
It's something Posh and Becks have managed, despite their huge fame. They've clocked up
a whole 13 years of wedded bliss. It hasn't always been plain sailing -- there were rumours
that David had an affair with Rebecca Loos in 2004, but the pair seem stronger than ever
now, and rounded off their trio of boys with a baby girl last year.
Sharon and Ozzy Osborne have also proved that love can last - it's been thirty years since
they tied the knot. And while they may be a little unusual, they certainly know the
secret of a happy marriage. Sharon's admitted their marriage has been stormy, but has often
talked about how Ozzy cared for her when she had cancer.
Another celebrity couple who've stuck it out in both sickness and health are Michael J
Fox and Tracy Pollan. The two actors met in 1985 when they were co-stars in a TV show
called Family Ties. They'd only been married for two years when Michael was diagnosed with
Parkinson's Disease, at the age of 30. They've now been together for 23 years - and Tracy
says the fact that both sets of parents have strong marriages has been great for making
their marriage a success.
But these long celebrity marriages are the exception to the norm. Most don't stay the
course. Take Russell Brand and Katy Perry. It was never going to be an easy task, tying
Russell down. K Pez managed it for just over a year, until the funnyman filed for divorce
at the end of last year, citing "irreconcilable differences".
The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas was the venue for Peaches Geldof and Max Drummey's
fast-track wedding in 2008. But even though the couple said that they were "delighted
to announce their very happy marriage", they were accused of doing it for publicity. Something
that wasn't helped by their divorce six months later.
Getting married when you're drunk is never a good idea, as Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra
discovered in November 1998. Their marriage only lasted 9 days. But the prize for the
shortest celebrity marriage goes to Britney Spears. She married childhood sweetheart Jason
Alexander in Las Vegas at 5.30 in the morning back in 2004. The marriage lasted a mere two
days before it was annulled Hello. It's Charlie at the Goss and today,
we're talking about longest and shortest celebrity marriages.
