Each year, under the direction
of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education,
more than 10,000 Missouri state residents earn their GED.
In an effort to improve accessibility and efficiency,
the Department now provides GED transcripts online for free
by visiting www.ged.mo.gov.
Employers, colleges and other institutions can easily verify whether
someone has received a Certificate of High School Equivalence.
An individual's GED transcript is available online once we receive their test results,
generally 2 weeks after they have taken the test.
Transcripts are available for all Missouri GED recipients dating
back to the beginning of the GED program in the 1940's.
Let's walk through the process of verifying
whether or not an individual has earned their GED transcript.
First, visit Missouri's GED website at ged.mo.gov
and once there choose “An Official Transcript,”
which is the second button on the left.
Once you are at the transcript search page,
enter the certificate information:
The last 4 digits of the individual's Social Security number.
Their date of birth.
Their last name.
Make sure you use the last name from when they took the test.
Now click transcript search.
The next window will show the official transcript.
Viewing the transcript online is considered the official transcript,
but it can also be printed off for record keeping purposes.
Please note that when the transcript is printed,
it will clearly state that it is only official when viewed online.
We hope you find this new online process
for accessing GED transcripts helpful and user-friendly.
If you have questions about the GED program
or accessing an online transcript,
please call the GED office at (573) 751-3504 or email ged@dese.mo.gov.
