As it pertains to outputting to Flash, most of the improvements in Encore CS4
take place in the Build panel. So we will be spending the next few movies
looking at some improvements here. I am actually going to resize my interface,
so we can see all the nooks and crannies of juicy, Encore swf-y goodness that
we can use to output to SWF. And if you look down at the Preset here, there
is now these loads of presets we can use, so we don't have to accept one particular
size or just a few sizes. We can choose from this list.
And as you notice here there is Low, Medium and High quality for
each of these Size Presets. But we scroll down a little bit further, all
the way to the bottom actually, we could see that we have a choice now between
a Progressive Download and to use Flash Media Server Streaming. Essentially,
what this is asking is do you want users to download this video entirely to their
machines, or do you want it to stream to their machines from a server.
If we select Streaming, or in another words Flash Media Server Streaming, we
have two choices. We can use a Flash Media Server if we have one, which is
actually a more secure way to store your content, or you could use PlayStream.
PlayStream is an Internet site that allows you to upload content and then it
streams from PlayStream servers to the users. Now, apparently there is a few
sites out there that do this, but PlayStream has been the only one so far that
Adobe has actually endorsed and said that this will actually work with. If you
don't have a Flash Media Server and if you are not using PlayStream then use
Progressive Download.
