Howdy Partners!
Welcome to another episode of tasty salsas dot com
I'm your host, Billy D and today we are going to the Lone Star State. We're doing some taste testing
of some Texas salsas
Alright, that is enough of that guys. Thanks for coming back to Tasty Sauces dot com. Like I said
we are looking at two Texas style salsas
On the left we have
Eagle Flats Picante Salsa
It's actually made in Vernon, Texas
and on the right we have
Texas Texas Salsa
This stuff is from Sanderson Food Company and they make a lot of bottled sauces
and this is their roasted restaurant style
This company actually started in 1997 in Austin, Texas and
one thing that makes them unique is
to other salsa makers is they don't add any sugar to the salsa and
the way they achieve their sweetness is they actually use apple cider vinegar and
that's something I haven't seen in other salsas so
definitely interested to try that out and see how that goes
so with no further adieu, let's go take a look at the Eagle Flats Picante Salsa.
It looks lime some pretty runny stuff. I definitely like the top on there it makes it feel like you got
it from
you know right off the reservation
Give it a little shake
Good. Its got a little flavor to it
This stuff is runny, you better be careful with this.
But I kind of like it,
runny with my salsas
it's kind of weird
hard to judge
you can taste the vinegar in there
definitely taste a little bit of heat
hard to make out what exactly is in it because everything is so pureed
From the bottle, it says it uses vinegar, onions, carrots, red peppers, water,
garlic, salt
and some sugar in there as well.
This is pretty good stuff. It is not very sweet but
it is pretty spicy.
I would probably give this one
5 out of 10 on the spicy scale.
For my personal preference, I would go ahead and give this salsa,
probably 3.5 out of 5 although pretty good stuff and would recommend checking it out.
Now moving on to the Texas Texas Salsa.
A nice little smell.
I smell some heavy tomato in there
This one is a runnier sauce as well
Let's jump right in
it
has got a really mild taste on there
Let's see what all they got in there
Yeah, they got a bunch of stuff, they got
tomatoes onions green chillies tomato puree
they got some serrano peppers
green onions, roasted poblano peppers, salt
They got a whole lot of stuff going on. This one actually has apple cider
vinegar as well so
Pretty good stuff
really not much spice to this. This is probably going to be about a 2 out of 10 on my
spiciness scale
But its pretty good salsa, not the best I have had
But definitely not the worst I had, I probably give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars on that.
If you guys have tried these out
definitely let me know what you guys think and uh... don't forget
the right sauce makes all the difference.
