My advice is to always keep an open mind because, especially now, the...this business is changing.
I mean, the way we do things this year is not the way we necessarily did things last
year and it's changing so fast. So go into it with an open mind. Don't be afraid to try
new things. In the first newsroom, that I worked in, they had typewriters, if anybody
remembers what - you can Google that, and know what a typewriter is - and when we moved
to - it wasn't even a computer, it was what they called a video display terminal - and
there were people who actually quit because they would not give up the typewriter. So,
from print and broadcasting, into more of a converged online world, I've seen the same
thing. I've seen the same resistance to, well, you know, "I'm a writer, I don't want to learn
how to do video." I compare that to what I saw thirty years ago, with people who wouldn't
give up their typewriters. So, don't be afraid to try new things, and when things do change,
you know, adapt with them.
