Oh hi there! You've just caught me looking after the poorest and neediest in society,
one of the many things we're committed to doing in Surrey Labour Students.
Ben here isn't really poor- he just dresses badly and sits next to benches,
but for many people across the country
this is closer to reality than you'd think.
as students, we like to feel we'll come away from our studies with more than
just £30,000 of debt and an STI
that's why Surrey Labour Students will be working throughout the following year
to help enable students and others on campus to develop a society
in which everyone can feel valued
and is treated equally
The problem is, we're always facing an uphill struggle
against people who don't necessarily share our values of fairness and equality,
and would rather we spent our time penny-counting and belt-tightening
than trying to make university a better place for those around us
over the past few years we've helped create a range of opportunities where members can help promote our cause,
and help make a valuable difference to students and our local community
These include: Campaigning
Canvassing
Arts and crafts
this year we want to do all of that and more.
Rather than just remain a clique of wannabe MPs and violent protesters,
we want Surrey's bright and passionate young students to take a role in developing their own university.
We're gonna carry on battling for fairer pay through our Living Wage campaign,
arrange for topical speakers,
join up with those at other universities across the country and, if you're really lucky,
discuss government white-papers whilst all your mates live it up at Rubix.
So join us at Surrey Labour Students today. You don't have to be a communist and there's no membership fee.
You can find us on Facebook or the Twitter,
or alternatively drop us an email at any time.
We can't wait to hear from you, and promise this will be the best decision you make at Surrey!
