- We want more of the world in Mexico,
and more Mexico in the world.
In this case, we want more Mexico in the world...
We want to make Mexico available everywhere in the world.
- Special Collections is a project inside the Street View platform,
and within Google Maps.
It is basically getting in restricted sites with cameras and take 360° pictures and recordings.
This means...
While you can navigate any streets of any city with Street View as long as its a public place.
Here we arranged to get acces into places usually restricted to regular people and or cameras.
In order to make available all those specific restricted places around the globe.
- We want a crowd, an audience, we want to increase the interest for our work...
For the richness of our culture and national heritage.
We want more people interested in what Mexico has to offer.
- Why bring Special Collections to Mexico?
Once we already documented all of Mexico's cities and streets, with the Street View technology.
Now we want to bring you the restricted places and sites worth to know around the country.
The equipment used for Special Collections is of course specialized and unique.
And it needs to be adapted according to the environments and trails used in.
We have to consider the dimensions and tracks we want to capture.
And so in this case we bult a special bicycle.
Specifically and specially built for exploring archeologic paths and sites.
- This made it easier for us to capture by taking everywhere not only the cameras but the GPS equipment also.
- Iv'e been at Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Tulum, Oaxaca, The Meco, Balam, Uxmal and now Quintana Roo.
I've lost almost 20 pounds since the project began.
- Last years we captured 41 archeology restricted zones.
And this year we will capture 47.
But the idea is to capture all of them...
All the 187 zones.
- This is very important for our culture...
Because it brings all of our heritage accessible in a very dynamic and fast way to anyone in the world.
- It's a win-win situation,
in wich we both have the same purpose, wich is to diffuse Mexico into the world.
