There are three different alley-oops. One, from the top of the key, feeding the ball
in, one, a basic alley-oop with just a lob up to the other player ready to dunk the basketball,
and the third would be off the glass. But in this first one, we're just going to stick
with the basics. Just a basic lob to Lewis to dunk the basketball. In the alley-oop, in the basic alley-oop,
it's virtually just a pass, a pass right up next to the rim for the other player to catch
it and put it in the hoop right away without hitting the ground again. So as Lewis demonstrated
and Brian demonstrated, it's a toss the basketball right up near the rim, Lewis grabs it and
slams it home. This is the second stage of the alley-oop. This is an alley-oop off the
glass, which is the backboard. So it's generally used on a breakaway situation or and to add
some flare to the game. So one player dribbles as he's going to fake the layup, he lays it
up off the glass, it bounces back far enough for the player behind him to slam it home.
That's an alley-oop off the glass. And we'll see it here with Lewis and Brian demonstrating.
And that's how you perform off the backboard alley-oop dunk.
