And now we talk sports with Tumamao Harawira.
Tena koe, Tu.
Let's start with cricket -
Ross Taylor named Cricketer of the Year
at the NZ Cricket Awards last night, your thoughts?
Yes, there's probably no other player in NZ
who's more deserving of the award than him.
He has made several achievements over the last year.
He sits at the esteemed table of cricketing greats
from around the world.
So he's deserving of all the accolades.
I also know he has just had another child
so this year is going to be a big one for him.
So no one else came close?
That's right.
I believe he was in his own league.
The 2014 NRL season kicked off last night
with the Rabbitohs smashing defending champs the Roosters 28-8,
your thoughts?
I'm not surprised by the results of this game.
Fullback Greg Inglis scored three tries.
But the biggest news coming from this game
would be the charges placed on Sonny Bill Williams
and some of his teammates for shoulder charges.
He'll be before the NRL's judiciary board
where we might see him slapped with a suspension
of one to three weeks.
So it's not a shock,
because as I was watching, you could sense that determination
from players like Sam Burgess, Sonny Bill Williams,
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, and George Burgess.
So that tenacious spirit was there between the two teams.
The hunger was there? - Yes.
Now on to an up and coming NRL star,
Kodi Nikorima debuts for the Broncos tonight against Bulldogs,
what are your thoughts on this player?
Yes, I saw him in the NRL 9s.
I took a close look at this team.
He's not the only young player
who has made it to play at this level
of rugby league this year.
Kodi is definitely one.
Troubled Parramatta Eels player Chris Sandow will debut
against the Broncos in about two weeks.
So for now it looks like Kodi will be there
as a halves partner of Ben Hunt.
It's a really good decision that's been made
but at this stage it's hard to tell how successful he will be
as he's still quite young.
But he does have promising skills and talent to make it big in league.
To rugby now,
Benji Marshall didn't make the cut
for the Blues clash against the Bulls this Sunday.
Waste of money?
Maybe, but that's the road Benji has gone down.
He faces two main obstacles.
One is his lack of experience in rugby.
That's the reason why he didn't make the position of fly-half.
He was meant to play fullback however Charles Piutau.
That's probably why Benji won't be on field.
They say if you don't give a person experience they won't learn?
That's true,
but this game could be a bit much for him to take on
for the sake of experience.
Tumamao Harawira, thank you for your time.
