As a social protection group Vauban Humanis propose a full range of personal protection.
As a responsible player, they are committed to developing new services for their members
in order to promote health at work.
In keeping with their traditional purpose, Vauban Humanis have set up Work and Health.
Work and Health is first and foremost a system.
It is a system which is organised into 3 areas:
advice, information and service.
Advice is given by means of an internet site accessible to all our members,
where they will find all the legal clauses concerning issues of health
and prevention at work.
As for information, from this site they can create files
to inform the bodies which represent their personnel.
And finally service, which means providing help in setting up
and engineering workplace preventative health action,
sometimes with these schemes also being implemented by the Vauban Humanis group themselves.
Illustrating the possibilities of Work and Health, with support from Vauban Humanis
the Saint Martin de Beaupréau establishments in Maine et Loire
have been able to put in place a training scheme for musculoskeletal problems.
This scheme is in keeping with a global approach
which has been discussed by the CHSCT (Committee for Hygiene, Safety and Working Conditions)
with representatives and management,
and is due to several reports we made in collaboration with the company doctor
on occupational illnesses concerning the shoulders,
and then also on accidents and work stoppages
linked to lower back pain and handling problems.
Therefore I contacted Vauban again to set up handling training for people with restricted mobility.
This is something which was already in place within the organisation,
but not necessarily set up in the best way,
and so we wanted to benefit from Vauban’s help in this matter.
We have had various exchanges regarding the choice of the system,
on our need itself, the number of days,
the number of sessions which we would want to set up for this year.
The issues exist on several levels.
Firstly there is the legal issue.
The Employment Code defines a general obligation
for companies, unions and management
to produce results regarding the health of their employees.
The second issue;
if employees are healthy a company is healthy,
with normal social relationships in the context of such relationships
as are contractually defined by the Employment Code.
And the third issue, an economic issue,
the fact that health has a cost should not be hidden.
Workers in good health understand what to do to remain in good health,
and that’s a real bonus, a bonus for the company, for the employee,
for the providence or insurance institution of which the company is a client.
For the staff the issue is very important
since we are involved in a health at work approach,
in a preventative approach.
The effects can only be beneficial because, an external person
who comes to help people question their routines
will inevitably raise different viewpoints and objectivity, which will be beneficial,
which will mean that trained people can maybe help improve their daily routines.
The more preventative actions are developed,
he fewer works stoppages or breaks due to illness will have the chance to occur.
Training in itself won’t eliminate illnesses
which could appear during the course of someone’s working life.
It will really be to warn them,
to give them the basics of hygiene both in their daily lives and at work too.
Prevention is an area which is somewhat ignored in France today,
and notably that of health prevention at work.
Our originality and our contribution
consist of trying to encourage this
by developing these systems intended for our members.
