the opposite.舲 舲 舲 {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://www.inquisitr.com/469329/cash-for-clunkers-hurt-the-environment-says-new-report/#Tz7fVWtZWclvy3jK.99"}}{\fldrslt

fuel-efficient cars. People could trade in their old gas-guzzlers for $4,500 to go towards
buying a new fuel-efficient car. The program seemed to be a win-win\'97 the consumer gets
a new car and America\'92s ecological footprint gets a little smaller.\

many of the \'91Cash for Clunkers\'92 cars were never sent to recycling facilities.\'94
\b0 \uc0舲 舲 舲 Instead, many of those old clunkers were sent to junk yards.
Old engines were reportedly destroyed and what wasn\'92t sold in auction was shredded.

\b \'93For each ton of metal recovered by a shredding facility, roughly 500 pounds of
shredder residue are produced; meaning about 3 to 4.5 million tons of shredder residue
is sent to landfills every year.\'94 \b0 \uc0舲 舲 舲 The shredder
residue typically consists of a mix of polyurethane foams, polymers, metal oxides, glass and dirt\'97
which aren\'92t exactly degradable ( \i you know, minus the dirt
\i0 ).\uc0舲 舲 舲 But that doesn\'92t seem to be the only complaint about the program.
