Welcome to Castleforge TV. The video marketing and advertising show where we beam a massive
dose
of awesome right into your eye sockets via the
interwebs.
I'm dennis duty and in this episode and in this
episode I'm talking about KFC. Specifically that
AWEFUL ad spot they placed in a very unfortunate
place.
As the worlds leading expert in advertising I
thought I'd bring KFCs recent advertising blunter
into the foreground. I'm going to show a video so if you have a
weak
stomach and can't stand the sight of gore, look
away. [zombie feeding noises]
Brought to you by KFC. Come in today and taste
why fresh is better. So this is a clip from the AMC show the walking
dead. [zombie feeding noises]
And this is KFCs ad space. Come in today and taste why fresh is better.
Don't you mean taste why flesh is better? [rimshot]
Ah-thank you. So we go from zombies feasting on a live human
to
KFC jumping in like "hey, hungry?" I actually know someone who works fro KFC
and
they say it's an acurate representation of how
their customers eat. To be fair the ad campaign
makes sense considering KFCs motto is "Brains".
The ad bloggers say it's genius beause KFC might
have only payed for a small placement, and they
got a lot of *** for their buck. but I'm here to say it's NOT genius. My
girlfriend and I refuse to each while watching
the walking dead for this very reason. And now,
everytime I pass by a KFC I get this queezy
feeling, and this repulsive image stuck in my
brain. "Brains"
You have to remember that the reason ads exist is
to make money. And don't tell me all press is good press.
I
agree, if you're looking to make people feel SICK
whenever they think of a KFC, this is good press.
A KFC spokesperson said that this ad placement
was unintentional. But if you're advertising a
food chain on a zombie show, you should ask some
better questions. This does bring up a couple interesting ideas.
For instance tailoring ad content more closely to
context CAN give you a bigger *** for your buck.
Just, if it's done in a way that doesn't promote
canibalism.
