Hi, I'm Patrick Murphy. I started my Army career as an ROTC cadet back in 1993. Later,
I had the honor to teach at West Point and served two post-9/11 deployments, the second
as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in Baghdad.
Then in 2006, I was elected to the United States Congress, where I served two terms.
In all that time, one of the things that I'm most proud of is my role in repealing Don't
Ask, Don't Tell. I can tell you that victory was possible because of you, the members of
the Courage Campaign.
But our work has only begun. Our nation faces serious challenges. Troops who serve bravely,
gay or straight, fight for our country. A country that provides an equal chance for
all Americans.
That's what the Courage Campaign is all about. Building a movement for an America that we
all share. That's the American dream for which I fought. It's the dream I'll continue to
fight for.
But that dream is under siege. We've got some tough battles ahead. The Courage Campaign
continues its work to achieve marriage equality, ensure a timely certification of Don't Ask
Don't Tell repeal, and launching a new national tool called Testimony: Take a Stand, the first-ever
searchable hub for LGBT stories.
Courage needs funding to fight these battles. They'll do it by building a team that can
organize outside of Congress, like we did for repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell.
While I work the inside, you work the outside, organizing in districts, making calls to swing
voters, sharing stories of unfairly discharged service members into American living rooms.
Courage will replicate that, but they need your contribution to do it.
I'm asking that you chip in ten dollars, twenty, fifty dollars towards these campaigns. Every
dollar you give will go to fund Courage's work. Organizing online, hitting the phones,
organizing in Congress and specific Congressional districts. This is a multi-year fight, and
they're going to need our support to win.
The inside-outside model worked before. It will work again. And I promise you, we will
not stop until we achieve full equality for all LGBT Americans.
I'm with Courage. Will you join me?
