My name is Maegan Woodin, and I'm a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and student.
I have danced for MTV, Diana Ross, Marc Jacobs and have appeared in many music videos. You
can find more information about me and my career, as well as photos and videos, at www.dgtnyc.com.
I'm going to be talking to you about ballet. The first thing you need to do is find a company
that's right for you. You can go online and find different dance companies and research
inside the company's website, look at videos and pictures, look at dancer's bios and also
the artistic director's background. Once you establish what company is right for you, you
want to go online and find exactly when their audition date is. Many companies audition
once or twice a year, and you can also send in submissions online or in person. Also a
good way to audition for these companies is through their workshops. A lot of companies
offer workshops once or twice a year as well, and they're usually a week long or even longer.
This is good because dancers are able to work with a choreographer or choreographers in
the company, and the choreographers can see the dancer in a lengthy period of time, rather
than at an audition.
