I'm most interested in the regulatory compliance aspect of biotechnology.
It involves insuring that the code of federal regulations
concerning of biomedical devices and pharmaceuticals are followed
and insures the health and safety of the public
that comes in contact with biomedical devices and pharmaceuticals.
My interest in biotechnology began here
at Gwinnett Tech in science classes,
first in biology and then microbiology.
The professor teaching microbiology noticed my interest
in laboratory work and suggested the program as a possibility.
I took the introductory biotechnology coursework
and became interested and was hooked.
A career in regulatory compliance will enrich lives
lives by ensuring the safety of the public
that comes into contact with biomedical devices and pharmaceuticals.
That safety is insured by following a code
of federal regulations and quality assurance.
In the field of biotechnology, there's always changing new technology,
new advances, life-saving technology and life-altering technology.
My education in biotechnology at Gwinnett Tech
has made me very familiar with the laboratory
and I've become familiar with federal regulations
through my regulatory compliance class
and that will be very valuable when I get into my career field.
Originally, it was proximity to my home
It has a reputation for quality instruction.
I had been at home with children for 13, 14 years.
I had attended the University of Alabama originally
and had stayed at home with children after working in photography.
There are many ways to use creative thought in the lab,
mostly involving problem solving.
We use a lot of protocols that have been worked out by other scientists
or other research groups, and often those protocols...
we have to modify those protocols
based on what sort of re-agents we may have.
For instance, we put together equipment in such ways
so we can get the results we need,
and we use our chemicals in such ways to get the results we need.
We have problem solving from the minute you get here
in the morning until class is over.
Five years from now I see myself in regulatory compliance, auditing
I would like to go into pharmaceutical companies
companies and help them know what they have to do in order to comply
with the federal regulations to help ensure the safety of the public
that comes into contact with these pharmaceuticals.
I became interested in biotechnology and bioscience
through a microbiology class I was taking here at Gwinnett Tech.
I really love the laboratory work
and the attention to detail that was required.
The whole field of biotechnology
and working with microorganisms is really fascinating.
there's a lot of potential.
My career goals are to go into regulatory compliance, an area in biotechnology.
Gwinnett Tech is preparing me by getting me very familiar with laboratory work
as well as I'm taking a course in regulatory compliance
which made me familiar with the code of federal regulations
which we would be using in regulatory compliance.
