I'm Jeffrey Saad, spokesperson for
the Incredible Edible Egg and America's egg farmers.
It's just not breakfast without eggs
and, in my home, fried eggs are a staple.
All you need is a non-stick pan, eggs, butter,
salt and pepper and you're ready to go.
So we've got our non-stick pan here,
over medium high heat.
The butter is melted, perfect.
Now we crack in our eggs.
[egg cracking]
And as soon as you see the white start to turn fully white,
you wanna get ready for the flip.
All right, so you can see it's going totally white,
we're gonna use the spatula,
just cut it down the middle here.
And then just give it a quick slide underneath
and flip it over.
And then once you flip 'em, it's just about another
30 seconds and you can cook 'em
to the desired doneness that you like.
Now we're gonna put those right on the plate.
And there's your fried eggs.
Now, another way I like to cook 'em,
when we're not frying 'em, is to steam baste the eggs.
All right, so your pan's hot,
you're ready to crack the eggs in,
just like we were doing the fried eggs.
Now the difference here is,
instead of frying them in the butter,
we're gonna add a little bit of water
and they're just gonna steam in that moisture.
I love to use the lid for this.
Take the lid, just get about a teaspoon of water
and then you can just bring that back.
And once the whites are starting to set,
that's when you pour in the water
and put the lid on.
Now all that steam that's created in there
is gonna perfectly baste, self-baste the eggs.
It'll take about three to four minutes
and they'll be perfectly cooked.
All right, it's been a couple minutes,
eggs are perfectly set.
Set your lid aside, grab the spatula again,
cut those in half, and look at those.
It's really, the steam basting really takes advantage of
the eggs 70 calories.
There you are.
Now you've got two more ways to easily cook eggs
and start your day with a nutrient packed breakfast.
Enjoy.
