Michihiko Yanai’s Anti-ism
Michihiko Yanai’s anti-ism is love.
Hmmm…..
I’ve always said I believed in anti-ism.
Although I don’t like the Giants baseball team, I really know a lot about them.
So yes, I knew I had that kind of trait.
It might be boring to simply admit that because this show said so,
but anti-ism is in a way same as love, the other side of love or the beginning of love.
At the moment, I think I’m anti anti-ism.
Also, I’ve been saying I don’t like Fukushima, but I now possess a counter feeling toward it.
So stating that you are “anti-something” is a dangerous act.
Being anti-something means that you can’t stop thinking about that something.
It’s the moment when something takes root inside you.
It’s the moment when you start liking that something but you don’t want to admit it.
It’s the moment of delicate balance between love and hate.
In the end, one cannot pursue anti-ism with out having a target.
For example, in the anime Lupin III, detective Zenigata is crazy about Lupin the thief.
Maybe it’s the wrong example.
Hmm....
I’m not sure if this is relevant to the talk of anti-ism,
but I feel being anti anti-something, like how teenagers might be,
it is a powerful process.
It’s not simple as I love this and I hate that.
I want to entangle myself in the depth of loving and hating that something.
That is how I feel.
For example, the feeling of Christmas cannot be expressed by the color green or red alone.
But with both green and red, it’s possible to create a Christmas feel.
I know it sounds cliche'd but I want to embrace and connect such ideas.
I believe advertisement must offer the hint which directs people towards such feelings.
I believe advertisement must offer the hint which directs people towards such feelings.
I believe advertisement must offer the hint which directs people towards such feelings.
In last year six day Live Fukushima event,
there was a footage showing the people of Iwaki stadium almost in tears.
I wish they hadn’t used that.
I wonder where Fuji Television got that footage from...
I really wish they hadn’t used that.
Anyway, being anit-something means one’s emotion are active.
This means one will have to state their dislike, which leads to analyzing of that something.
In hindsight, I feel that having many dislikes as young was a wonderful thing.
You should search for the things you dislike, but don’t deny them.
Think about how you can come to like that thing, or make that thing better.
I believe that’s what creativity is.
I’ve always thought one should be surrounded by the things one loves, but I now question that.
Michihiko Yanai’s Anti-ism = Love
I guess it’s correct.
Will this be the end of filming?
I can comment on this show after this right? OK.
So I’ve come to be not so anti-something afterall. Being anti anti-something has balanced me out.
In that sense, anti-ism is like being on the edge and love is to be in the middle.
I want to embrace both sides.
Q. Is there anything you want to share with every body?
To be honest, when I read the proposal paper for this show, it didn’t make any sense to me.
But I’m really impressed with how this show was able to create such an atmospheric 30min,
and that it was intentionally withholding details in the proposal paper and the meeting as part of
a strategy to build up this atmosphere.
I can feel that people making this show are proud of it and have perseverance.
If one looks back to the year of 2012 when Fuji Television launched this show,
I’m sure one will feel be awed by its profoundness.
I don’t know how long this show can survive for.
I don’t mean that it’ll come to and end, but I’m just saying that I don’t how it’ll last for.
When you don’t know how long a thing will last for, you must support it.
If you think this show is well made, write a letter to the chairman of Fuji Television or share it with your friends.
If you don’t, this show will one day finish.
If you are given something that you like, give your support.
When everyone’s favorite bookshop in Tokyo closed, poeple expressed their sadness.
The irony was that many of them were only bookshop browsers.
So when you like something, it is very important to express or communicate it.
I though Mr. Fujikawa who makes this show is older than me, but it turns out he is very younger.
I’ve also heard rumors that in few years time, he will film a movie that surpasses “Sanchome no Yuhi”.
Anyway, I feel this program should interview more variety of people.
Today, I came with the intention giving this show a good shake up, but I was unsuccessful.
Rather than just interviewing many people,
I hope this commanding atmosphere the show will be kept up every Thursday night, at 11pm.
As I said in the main show, my mind doesn’t focus on one thing when I am creating,
and I think it’s okay to stay that way.
What else did I want to say...
It’s not related to this show but…
let us all try our best in the future.
That’s about all I can say.
I actually don’t like the phrase “try our best”.
Gosh, I’m exhausted. Is it okay to finish?
Thank you very much Mr. Yanai.
That’ll be all the questions. Before we go, do you have any message for Mr. TOSHI-LOW?
TOSHI-LOW?
I actually met with TOSHI-LOW yesterday.
But he didn’t mention that he commented about me for this show.
But he is always like that.
Some times, I want to tell him to put in a good for me when on TV, but he is always like that.
TOSHI-LOW….
He is an important friend to many people.
Same goes for people who were and weren’t in the footage.
I’ve always thought I didn’t have any friends...
but have since realized that I have many.
Thank you very much.
