The concept of the latest technical innovation developed by Airbus is to enable the monitoring of technical failures in real time during flights
Called AiRTHM, this new service and its designer have all been presented the '2013 Digital Economy' award
during the latest edition of the 'Mêlée Numérique' conference which is sponsored by Toulouse Metropole.
" When an airline subscribe to the AiRTHM service, Airbus is able to receive the flow of digital data produced during flight by an airplane.
When Airbus engineers are informed in real time of a technical failure happening during a flight,
they can analyse the data and if needed request more information from the aircraft and the default system.
Once the answer is received, our 'Fleet watcher' operators with the help of our Design Office engineers
can then analyse all the received information in order to identify the root cause.
It also allows the planning of all repairs, spare parts, procedures, tools and the repair team
in order to be able to quickly fix this failure once the aircraft has landed."
It has been a very rewarding year for Airbus who confirmed at the latest Le Bourget air show
with plenty of new orders that the aircraft manufacturer is in great shape.
The new A350XWB who flew over the 2013 Le Bourget air show
will be equipped with this new system as is already the case with the A380.
« For our company and all the team involved in this new service project,
it is a very good recognition, because it comes from outside of the aerospace world
during 'La Mêlée Numérique' conference which has gained a regional and national reputation.
It is also rewarding many years of work and technical review
which have allowed us to get the benefit of the data transmission from the air to the ground with the ability to be analysed,
thanks to all our engineers including those from our design office, and the possibility to send information to the airline
in order to offer a better daily support of their aircraft, optimising the fleet operability and availability."
Finally it is the airline passengers who will benefit from this new technology,
as the AirRTHM service will offer from now-on a way to increase the aircraft operational availability of the new Airbus family members.
