Always I Am Only Here
When My Life Begins
Will It Remain Like This?
At exactly 7 am, I start the day again
With the usual housekeeping.
I wash the walls and also do the stairs and coiling
I clean from here to there in just fifteen minutes
And then it's time for the books, those we read a lot.
And then it’s time for painting on the walls of the room
I play guitar, knit, and cook
And I think “Will it remain like this?”
[Music]
And so, everyday games and later cakes.
Papier-mâché, dances, and then also chess
Molding, maybe also a few more waxy candles.
One, two, three – a drawing. Climb higher! Sewing!
Then I will read the books again once more
And I paint everywhere. Is there any room left here?
Then brushing hair, and brushing again
And so, every day – nothing changes.
But always I am only here, and only here, and only here,
And always I am only here.
And like every year, tomorrow, there will be lights
Tomorrow in the night they’ll fly and burn,
What could this be – that shines like gold?
I have already grown up. Mama, let me go…
Thank You!
