So let's talk about what is a good starting hand for the game of "Jacks to open". Well
first of all, just so you know, any pair lower than Jacks not so much right. Let's look at
hands that are good, here we go with Queens, pair of Queens better than a pair of Jacks.
You could open betting with that and in addition this King kicker means that you can feel pretty
good that that someone out there does not have a pair of Kings. So you got that going
for you and the King kicker might come into play later on at showdown if someone else
has a pair of Queens. So that's a good hand to go with. An even better hand here you have
your Jacks right? You also have some Tens; I should mention that this could be a pair
of Twos with a pair of Tens because it's two pair, that's better than one pair of Jacks.
You could open betting with that but this two pair of Jacks and Tens is actually a full
house. This would be an extraordinary hand to catch before the draw. You'd be very happy
with it; you might even try to trap with this hand. It's what's called a "Pat Hand" because
you're not going to be drawing after the initial betting and lastly. Look at this hand, now
this is not a hand you could open betting with but you could easily call. What it is
is you've got the King Queen and Jack of Hearts plus you've got the Bug. Now at this time
the Bug equals Ace with no suit value but if you discard this card and you shall. But
at the draw time if you discard that and catch any Heart any Ten or any Ace or in fact any
Nine you get to use the Bug to complete your hand and you will have a boss hand at that
time. So this is a great hand to be playing in the game of "Jacks to open" and there you
go. We'll talk about some not so great hands in the next segment.
