Hi. I'm Vickie Pavone on behalf of Expert Village. In this series we'll be talking about
the basics of cross stitching. In this segment we're going to discuss the basic cross stitch
called the French Knot. The French knot is used for accents, dot your Is, periods, semi
colon, colons and just make centers of flowers. Come up from the back, you're going to stretch
your thread out and you're going to wind it around your needle. Two times minimum, six
times maximum. Any less it won't make a knot, any more it just makes a mess. You're going
to hold this thread, you're going to hold the thread on the back so that it doesn't
come out so that a knot is formed and then you're going to pull your needle down through
lightly so that now you have a knot. Again. Come up from the back, take hold of your thread,
wind it around at least twice, go back down in the same hole, hold the thread so that
the knot will form. And that is your basic French knot.
