If a pastor becomes worldly, he becomes just like a man who is a merchant who sells and
trades for profit. Whether a pastor is paid or unpaid, if he
has become like a merchant he is no longer a man of God
but he has become a man who is a merchant that is there to please people not God. There
is nothing wrong with being a merchant or a businessmen in the secular sense. In
and of itself there is nothing wrong with that. But there is a serious problem with
a pastor who has become like a merchant. A merchant
only can sell something that his customer wants to buy.
And if a pastor sees the people that he preaches to as customers, he will only say what those
customers what to hear. The man of God listens to the Holy Spirit
and he is led by the Lord Jesus. When the Lord Jesus gives him a message,
he speaks that message even if the people do NOT want to buy that product.
Even if the people hate him and disown him as their pastor, that man of God STILL testifies
of the truth of what he has seen and heard. He does NOT work for the people, but he strives
to please Jesus with ALL his heart, with all his soul and with all his might.
Pastors today will lie and they will tell their congregations that they agree with the
words of Apostle Paul, that “you cannot muzzle the ox while he
works for you.” And they twist the words of Paul to mean what he NEVER meant.
And they force the people to pay them, and the pastor will in turn speak exactly what
the people want to hear. If truly a man of God is working for GOD,
he strives after the Lord Jesus with all his heart no matter what people think.
He is NOT there to please people, but he is there to please his Lord, his Christ, and
his Savior. Are you listening to pastors who have become
like merchants? Or are you truly listening to the Lord Jesus?
May the grace of Jesus be with you.
