Are you feeling it?
You feeling it? Listen, Listen.
That feeling is the promise of your future that you are feeling.
I know, I've sat where you sat and it takes all different kinds of forms.
It's like well, I should have done more and I should be here as this next time I'm going to be.
Oh but then it is just that swelling that,
"Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba" of expectation of what your future can be like.
And then it's just, hearing those key phrases and you go,
"Oh man that's it. You were right and I got that. That's a pearl."
"That's going to change me I know those words are going to change me."
"That's all the promise of your future."
I am so excited to be here tonight.
First, I want to thank God above!
Listen, 12 years ago, 12 years ago,
I was drowning, I was dying to go...
God threw me a kiss.
A big life saver came out and the name on that life saver was 4Life Research!
This company saved my life, it changed my life!
It saved my life, because it gave me something to focus on besides my own problems,
my own pain and my own sickness.
I focused on 4LIfe and I pressed on.
I worked through many, many nights in pain.
I dragged myself from my bed to do confernece calls.
I dragged myself out of that bed in the morning to prospect and to call people.
It was all I had. I was not going to pass away, if that's what God had for me,
and leave my family broke, with nothing because I owed them better.
I wanted to give them what I never had.
4Life came to me at the greatest time of my life.
Even though I was a little bit of a hostile prospect.
I was a little bit negative in the beginning, if you can relate to that.
I saw it. I knew it was from Him. I took it and I went to work.
No matter how hard it got. No matter what happened.
No matter what I felt. No matter how many times I went into the hospital
and out of the hospital back into the hospital, back out of the hospital,
I NEVER QUIT!!
Now you guys know me, you know me... Am I a quitter?
Are we quitters? Okay, Let's do it!
"We won't quit! We won't quit! We won't quit!"
"We wont quit! We won't quit! We won't quit!"
"We won't quit!" Yeah!
You will never quit! Listen, you'll be tested and while we're here at Convention,
while we're here, oh man, those emotions are so swollen.
We're feeling so good, we'll never quit and most of us, if you've gotten here,
you've maybe gotten somewhere, so you're not going to quit.
You are not going to do the big, "I Quit!", but it's all the little things.
While I never quit, there was something I had to do. Ray, had to do it!
It wasn't going to do to happen to me. I couldn't quit, but I had to surrender.
I had to surrender. I had to give up.
I had to surrender, so the person that I had to become to get this thing done, could come out.
I had to let go. A lot of you don't know, you don't where I came from.
Listen, I Iove my wife so much. We've been married for 29 years.
She loved me when I was unlovable. Okay, all I ever had was that,
"I'm not going to quit!" I was the guy people looked at and go
"Who?, What is he?" I was the hopeless guy.
The only person that knew, I was going to be anybody, and do anything in my life was me.
There wasn't any evidence of that in my life. I struggle with what is called, "self sabotage".
I remember one time, when I first met Barb. I was like man,
What am I doing with such a beautiful woman? How did this happen.
I met her and had a few Budweisers. I'm there and I'm talking to her Mom and her family and stuff.
I said, "Your daughter is going to have everything!
She's going to have it."
Now we're broke. Can't even pay the rent. Moved out of places in the middle of the night.
This kind of thing.. and I'm going, "She's going to have everything!"
She's going to have the life of her dreams... and their looking and saying,
"Oh, we hope she gets rid of this one!" Right?
I had a little too many Budweisers.
I came home and threw up all over her house.
Barbara's Mom's house. That was the kind of person that I was.
Listen, my three best friends in life, Richie Joyce,
okay who I grew up with., really talented guitarist, right.
I mean we used to hang out and sit in the streets and just dream together, and stuff like that.
He grew up and got married and had all kinds of problems
Okay, he quit. He did the ultimate quit.
He did the ultimate quit. He called me up one time and said, you get me into rehab.
I said yes. Call me back. I got a call back 2 hours later from his brother, he said,
"Ray they found him in the water." Dead!
Jack O'Tory, my first roommate, played saxophone, a talented guy. Got in a car one night.
He put his trust in the wrong person at the wrong time and got in that car one night.
Going 100 miles per hour around a curve, flies out of the thing...gone!
Kevin Donnelly, the best salesman, you have ever seen in your life.
Just larger than life. Just a character you love to be around. He gave up. He gave up.
Overdosed.
They say, you don't have to look further than your friends, right?
That was my friends. Until I gave up, and surrendered, to go through the pain of who
I had to become, and that's what I want to talk to you about tonight, not quitting like,
"Oh, I'm going to quit 4Life." because you're not, right? You're not!
"We won't quit! We won't quit! We won't quit!"
"We won't quit! We won't quit! We won't quit"
You're distributors need to see that in you everyday. It's off the table!
Barb and I had all kinds of problems in the beginning of our marriage.
We walked in to the counselor's and the counselor said we were threatening each other.
"Hey I'm leaving. You leave. Whatever!"
He said listen, "This divorce thing is off the table! It's gone from here on in! It is not an option!
I think because of that, is why we are still together today.
I thank God for that counselor at that time.
So you are not going to do the big quit! Thank you!
Thank you! You're not going to do the big quit, but what about the little things?
What you need to do is, we need to do, is honor that person we are going to become.
We know we want Gold/Platinum International Diamond the position,
but we have to visualize that person we need to become.
We have to be true to that person and honor it.
You know what, David Lisonbee, Mark, Nathan, Steve, I watch their lives, they don't tell,
they don't talk much. They don't teach much, but I watch the way they live their lives.
They help me to do that. They challenge me to be better.
What about gossip? Is that a little bit maybe when you bite on that juicy gossip?
Is that a little bit, just a little bit, just a little bit,
maybe quitting on that person that you want to become.
Instead of edifying that part of the downline, or you find the upline, you're like,
"You know about this (person) or you know this guy up here..."
or you know this guy up here..."
Right, is that a little bit okay, the caller id comes up.
It's your sponsor you know, you're supposed to honor that.
Pick up that phone right, you go,
Nobody knows, it's the caller id.
These little things you know what it is? It's your dream, it can die a death
of a thousand cuts by these little things.
I was always a visionary guys. I was always a visionary who saw it.
I always fell on my face until I had to walk through it and in my case
until I had to walk through it, and in my case it was forced.
It was forced humility, it was pain. It was either die, or change.
And by His grace, I changed.
I want to thank Dr. Rob Robertson
He was my anchor in the beginning that I could talk to a guy that credible.
See I needed credibility in the beginning. I'd been around the block.
I had no trust. I had zero trust in network marketing companies.
That voice of Dr. Rob, knowing what he gave up. A multi-million dollar medical practice.
I said, "Well gee! If he can take a shot surely I can."
Everything he did for everybody in the beginning. Listen,
This is just me talking, this is just me.
I can call Dr. Rob the founding distributor, right.
We call him the Master Distributor in my opinion, knowing what I know,
I consider the Master Distributor, I consider Dr. Rob above Platinum.
Okay, that's just me. Thank you Dr. Rob!
I give it to 4Life for just believing in me and trusting in me.
I know I am still rough around the edges, but I'm a little better than I was
And I want to thank my wife who I love so much, who loves me.
This is about letting go. Okay, listen
I want to tell you a story. Who has heard my ham and eggs story?
None of you have heard my ham and eggs story. Okay, I've always been overweight.
So, I get out of the hospital I'm like 175 pounds.
I had to lose 50 pounds. Which I did do that then 60.
I had to do that to get a liver transplant. I had to do that right.
So I did that I got to 250 pounds. I go into the hospital and now
I go on an involuntary liver transplant diet. Okay.
So I go down to 175 pounds. Now I get out of the hospital being blessed by this new liver.
Being blessed by God to get a second chance in life. What happens?
International Diamond Ed Locke calls me and says, "I'm at the airport. Pick me up."
I said, "Sure". He said, "What are you doing?" I had eaten nothing.
IV that's how ate. Then a couple of yogurts right before I got out. That was it.
I mean I didn't even know what... food smelled funny to me.
I didn't even know what it was. I said, "Where do you want to go?"
He said, "Lets' go over her to this Perkins."
I said, "Okay, Ed". He's ordering. He picks up the menu.
He orders he says, "Ham and eggs." I said, "You know what?
I'll have ham and eggs too." I got like a ham and eggs fixation.
That experience of eating those ham and eggs was so good. Wow! That's good food!
I went to Denny's like everyday for ham and eggs. Okay.
What happened? My weight went right back up to 285 pounds!
Why? Because it doesn't matter what happens then, unless it happens in here!
I hadn't become that 175 pound person yet.
Now here's the good news about that. Are you ready? Okay, and look,
In all humility, if you want to give me a big hand on this, this is fine, but here's the deal
I went to the doctor's office the other day, and in June 2009, I walked into a doctor's office,
and my A1C, that's your sugar going back 3 months, my A1C is 9.6.
That's very, very, very, high.
Okay. That's pretty much diabetic, or just right there pre-diabetic.
I went back in just before I came to Convention and he looked at me
and smiled and said, "You did what you said you were going to do."
I said, "Why? It was at 6.7. He said it went down to.
So, Steve Apple comes to me the other day and people have been going,
"You look great, Ray." I did. I lost 35 pounds. Why? Because why? I won't quit!
I will die trying!
He said, "When you go down one point with that A1C, that's exponential."
He said, "Every point you go up, is not just a point. It's a doubling."
I said, "Ooh, doesn't that make sense. Isn't that good?"
I have fallen in love with becoming this type of person.
I hear Hermino speak, Dave and Jeff. I hear Juan speak and I just look and I just
aspire to be all that I can be.
To grow and to change. But, I had to leave the old person behind.
Listen, I want to tell you something.
For me, I spent most of my life not feeling safe.
When I was little, there wasn't really anybody to take care of me.
I was out there. I was angry. I was lonely.
I was broke. I wanted some money.
Any of you want money?
That, is a result of service. I worked hard when I got this Platinum.
We started making money, and I got to place where I felt safe.
Then I started getting, wait a second, wait a second here, okay.
I'm not going to die! I'm going to be around, one year., two years, three years out from this transplant.
Man this is the grace of God. You're going to live. You're going to be around.
Barb would keep telling me. You and I are going to be walking down the road
35, 40 years down the road. We're going to be 90. She's positive.
She's starting to settle in and start's to belive this. I started to relax a little bit.
I started to just rest.
In my safety and we always saved. Because of being in network marketing before we always saved
like it was going to go away tomorrow. We never lived extravagantly.
I still live in the house I bought for $235,000. That's just us.
Okay. I went and I bought a Lexus and I bought a pickup truck.
I have an F150 and I feel really good having and F150. Okay.
I had to become a different person.
I had to change.
That's what you cannot quit on.
There's a book out, it's called,
"What got you here, won't get you there." Anybody ever heard of this book?
I read this book and it challenged me. You know what, for me, I'm right where you are.
What got me here, will not get me there.
God gives you something. He puts people in your life. He gives you a check.
He gives you recognition, and then He says,
"Lay it down so we can go to the next level together."
That's what we've got to do!
Okay, Take quitting off the table!
Notice, notice the little tiny, little quits. Death by a thousand cuts. Notice this thing.
Day by day, hour by hour, I know who that person is,
I'm visualizing that person. That person is up on stage, that person is you.
That person is you, up on stage, as Gold International Diamond
Platinum Internatonal, you make that real.
You visualize that and then, you walk in the revelation of
who you need to become to build that person and you have to lay down the old person.
For some of you, for me, that was walking through pain.
That was doing things when I didn't feel like doing them. I was the type of person.
I wanted to do what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it.
If I didn't feel like doing it, I wasn't going to.
Nobody was going to tell me what to do. But, I understood the principle of all our massive action.
I understood that when you're in building mode, when you are doing that 90 day plan,
when you are going crazy, Okay,
everything else is on hold because you've got to get to that first level of belief.
You've got to be able to turn around and say, I got here.
Now what are you going to do when you get there?
See that's the thing. Some people, some people,
I rested a little bit. I rested at Platinum.
I'm not resting anymore. I'm telling you that right now.
I'm not resting anymore. It took a while, for the last 6 months, that's been churning.
You got to lay it down, Ray. You've got to grow.
Where are you really going because you just got started man.
God gives it to us anyway, right?
I rested a little bit, but some distributors get to Diamond.
Check $400 and they go... Whew!
Okay. Speak a little bit at the meeting... ooh this is good, stuff man. This is good!
You know your head's a little tall, right, looking people right in the eye.
How are you doing? How are you? How are you doing?
Feeling pretty good about yourself... okay, but you don't rest there.
You say, that person, you look at the upline.
You look at the examples of integrity.
Integrity is somebody being true to who they are... to who they want to be.
Right? It is somebody laying it down all the time.
It's not always easy. Maybe you can become that person after a while.
What do we have to have integrity to mostly have integrity in all areas, but mostly,
integrity to keep talking to people. To not go into management mode. Right?
I mean look at the computer reports to see if anybody is doing anything.
Pick up that phone and start blessing somebody and speaking something
positive into their lives and saying, "What can I do and how can I be of service?"
Right? and be willing to go out of your way for that person.
You're like, let me see what their doing.
Let me call and see what they are doing? Right?
That means shadowing. Check up on them. Let me check up on them, right?
So these are the things we need to do. Some people, they get their autoship covered.
A check for $109.
Cool! Not combing anything in a mud pocket right now.
I guess I'm winning this game Whew! Right?
Some people get their living expenses covered. This is huge. This is huge!
I just had something come over me. Do it with me...
"We won't quit! We won't quit! We won't quit!"
"We won't quit! We won't quit! We won't quit!"
We won't quit on that person we need to be become to be at that position we need to be at.
To earn that check that we need to earn.
We won't quit on that. In the little ways and in the big visionary ways too.
Some people get those living expenses I don't know. $3,000, $4,000,
I don't know, $5,000 $6,000... and they go.. Whew!
Because the committment to not quit, is that making it thing that maybe it's a dollar figure.
Maybe it's a stress reduction figure... oh man
I've got that much stress manageable now. My stress is manageable now.
Listen you're talking to somebody who has been under unbelieveable pressure and
stress and fear for my life. In my life.
And sometimes when that stress comes off, we're like, Whew!
It's okay. Did you hear me?
It's okay. It's just like the poem, the famous poem says,
"Rest if you must but don't you quit!"
Don't you quit on that person that you're becoming.
That person that you want to be. This may sound very, very crazy to you
because you've seen the position. You see the recognition.
You see the money.
You saw those Rolexes... Whew! Right?
You see that and that's all cool, but I'm telling you today
there will be a time when you have the money, when you have the Rolex...
when you have the recogniton you've soaked it up. It's filled you up.
You feel good about that and you know, that you know that you know.
The biggest payoff, of all your work, of all your persistence,
of all this honoring yourself,
of all this honoring your dream, never quitting on the little things
that person you want to become.... that in all that,
There is a way bigger payoff than the position, the recognition, or the money.
You've heard it thousand times, on many CDs,
It's the not the destination, it's the journey.
It's not, what you get, or where go. It's who you become!
That's the blessing of doing the work in this business.
Listen, I want, I want to bring out the person who has influenced my life
Her name is Barbara, just a little hint.
The most by just loving me to health. By being by my side at the worst time in my life.
I'd like to bring out my wife Barbara Meurer.
29 years she has stayed with me!
Honey, I want to thank you for believing in me.
I want to thank you for sticking with me,
and thank everybody that has come up to me and said
you've inspired me or you've touched me....
You've touched me more. You've touched me more.
That is the greatest blessing that is the greatest thing that you've said to me.
I love all of you.
I'm honored and humbled to be up here and thank you very much.
