Jamie Dwyer Prime Minister's Olympic Challenge
Transcript
I first got involved in hockey through my parents. I started playing hockey when I was
four years of age and ever since then I've enjoyed the sport, I've enjoyed the team environment,
I've met a lot of close friends and I've still got friends from childhood til today and just,
I guess, once I got a little bit better I got to travel all around Australia and then
once I made the Australian team I got to travel around the world and now I've got friends
all around the world which has been a great experience. On the other side of things, it's
been great to be able to challenge myself in the sport that I love. I've always had
the desire to be the best possible hockey player I could become and to to do that everyday
i'ts been great and I've really enjoyed it. Obviously sport also keeps you very fit and
healthy and it makes you feel happy and that's another part of sport and my hockey which
I love everything about it.
Usually before a game I like to have a sandwich or a roll or wrap, probably roughly about
four hours before I play the game, make sure that I'm very hydrated because in a hockey
game you run around a lot, you roughly run around between seven to ten kilometers a game
and that obviously dehydrates you so I try and make sure I keep drinking lots of water
and straight after the game I make sure I eat some healthy food too so I replace the
energy I've just lost through the game of hockey.
Yeah I hope all you kids participate in the Prime Minister's Olympic Challenge. It's great
fun to be able to play your participating sport, I hope you all play hockey and hopefully
at the end of it on the twelth of August, hopefully I've got a gold medal around my
neck and hopefully your've got a medal around your neck as well!
