Kaitlyn Weaver: My, my favourite quote growing up was that Michael Jordan was cut from the
high school
basketball team. And that just helped me believe in myself and believe in our team even when
things weren't going that
well and that's helped, uh, teach us to be able to, um, to overcome any obstacle.
Andrew Poje: The last, uh, qualification for the Olympics we missed by, uh, point 3, um,
and it was a hard
thing to swallow because we felt so close and we were, we were almost there but it,
it wouldn't, um,
have, we wouldn't be where we are today
and who we are today if it hadn't been for that experience and for that, that heartbreak
because without that,
it didn't um, help us realise how much we wanted it and how much we wanted to, to be
in the sport that we love.
Kaitlyn Weaver: We had quite a rise, um, when, when we first started skating together and
within six months we were, um,
added to the Athletes Assistance program. That meant everything for us. Um, skaters
right now aren't
really able to carry jobs as many athletes, Olympic athletes are, um, because it is a
job in itself.
And so to be able to have that assistance so that we don't have to worry about eating
healthy or not, or um,
paying rent on time or not, you know, those are the types of things that we try and keep
out of our minds and with
the Athlete Assistant Program, we're able to focus on our job
and let everything else take care of itself.
