He was six years old when the pogrom broke out.
His family lived in a Jewish neighborhood.
-What was the street called? -Soborna
-In the center of town? -near the market
Whoever was able to hide, went into hiding. But they went out to beat up Jews.
His father, young and older sister went up into the attic to hide.
He and the maid stood downstairs, while outside they went around killing the Jews.
They then entered their house and said:"Give gold or diamonds!"
They were very poor. They didn't have anything. So they said: "We don't have anything."
"If you don't give us anything, we'll chop off your head!"
They had no idea what was going on outside. They only heard how people screamed "gevalt."
At that point, whistling began outside, [signaling] the leaders to convene, to gather together.
The bandit, who wanted to kill them, took his sabre and put it inside his coat, and left.
This time, they survived. But when they went outside, they saw
over there were heads, over there were hands and over there were feet.
And all of his friends were killed off. And he and the maid, stayed alive.
It tormented him his entire life.
Afterward, the Poles occupied our town and they took away my father for a month and a half.
Since he was gone so long, we thought he was murdered. They took him into the woods where they tortured him.
In general, things were joyous here, but I survived everything.
