>> Hi and welcome to a new D.I.Y. video tutorial
today I will show how to create a custom made birth wreath
just like this one!
If you are looking for a unique way to announce the birth of your baby
or if you are looking for a perfect gift for the parents to be
this is the project for you.
I will show you how to create a birth wreath
that you can customize following your needs
adapting it to a baby girl or a baby boy.
you just need to change colour and decorations.
For this project we will need:
a styrofoam wreath base,
some artificial flowers,
an acetate sheet,
some ribbons,
an hot glue gun,
some felt, wooden embellishments, or simply what you like,
some chipboard letters,
Mod Podge or a vinyl glue,
some glitters,
a paint brush and scissors.
First of all we need to decorate the chipboard letters,
apply a coat of Mod Podge
and sprinkle some glitter
so that it will glue on.
Now we can start decorating the styrofoam base
which we need to cover.
Chose a wide ribbon in the colour you prefer
and apply some hot glue on the back of the base
and adhere one end of the ribbon.
Now start wrapping it around the base
applying some hot glue to fix it every now and then
until it will be completely covered.
Remember to pull and overlap carefully the ribbon
in order to cover the base completely.
Once you'll reach the end
apply the hot glue
and adhere the ribbon end,
cut the exceeding part
and fold it over to get a cleaner look.
We can now start decorating the wreath
Let's remove the artificial flowers from their stems
In order to help the flower compostion to adhere on the base
let's cut a strip of felt on which we will glue both flowers and leaves.
Let's start by glueing on the felt strip ends the leaves
this way.
Glue a folded satin string
on the leaves just like this.
Now we can glue the flowers
the mid one at first and then the side ones.
To avoid the felt showing on the wreath
let's trim the excess.
At this stage I decided to add another detail
I grabbed a pink ribbon
cut a bit and adhered it on top of the satin string
like this.
Now that the flower decoration is ready we can put it aside and go on with the project.
Take the acetate sheet
and using the wreath as a mask
draw a circle with a marker
in order to cut the acetate sheet with the right dimensions.
We can now start cutting the sheet
it's not important to be too precise because it will be glued on the back of the wreath.
Now let's glue the acetate just like this.
If necessary trim the sheet
to remove the showing marker marks.
The next step will allow us to hang the wreath
Use the satin string we already used for the flowers decoration
cut a bit, tie it
and adhere it on the back of the wreath
To cover the string
use the satin ribbon with which we covered the whole wreath
and glue it on top
but first fold it to keep everything cleaner
this way.
Now that the wreath base is ready
we can glue the decorations.
First of all let's glue the flower decoration
using as always the hot glue.
Now let's glue the glitter chipboard letters on the acetate sheet
just like this.
As last thing I decided to glue also a wooden decoration
always using the hot glue.
Here is the finished wreath
as I said you can customize it choosing the colours and decorations you prefer
suitable for a boy or a girl
I hope you liked this project and that it will be usefull
As usual I wish you a lovely day
and I'll talk to you in my next video...ciao!
