Hello and welcome to another episode of landscape photography. This is Mujahid. I am at Camps
Bay right now. Behind me is the gorgeous Lion's Head, and on the other side, we have Table
Mountain which is one of the natural wonders of the world.
So, it is high tide right now, my usual spot is that side. And I am too scared to go there
because of the high tide and the big waves splashing on the rocks. So, I just want to
hopefully collect some from this spot today. It is more pleasant here, there are a lot
of people here, and I think the clouds are looking very promising. So I am hoping for
some nice sunset photos and seascapes.
I really do not like man made structures in my photos. I want to keep the photo and the
elements in the photo quite natural. So that side is quite attractive, and the clouds there
are quite beautiful as well, but there are quite a lot of buildings and car parks there.
However, if you look towards here, so this area is quite secluded. There is quite a lot
of moss, and because of the high tide, there is a pool that has been created here. So I
can walk here, I can even walk there and take photos without putting myself into danger
of getting splashed out by the waves.
Ok, so Yusuf has finished playing, it's almost sunset time and I am back in my small tidal
pool. Behind me are big waves and high tide, and in the tidal pool, I am gonna take some
photos before the sunset.
So, the sunset is happening now, and I have got a beautiful composition. So the waves
as you can see behind me are coming into the tidal pool, so that is my foreground with
some boulders. My settings are basically f14, I am shooting in manual mode, I have got two
graduated ND filters on it. It is gonna be extremely windy for me, but the scene is worth
it and the clouds are even picking up the magenta colour now. So patterns on the clouds,
patterns on the sky, extremely gorgeous sunset, and a lovely foreground will make a nice photo.
I have changed my composition now. So if I run you through my composition, my camera
is in the water right now. And what I am trying to capture is the water going through this
particular channel. Also this is my foreground, with this rock jutting into the scene and
this also narrows down the photo and then the eye goes behind towards the sky and big
boulders.
So the trick is that you keep changing your perspective after taking photos and you keep
shooting even after the sunset. So now I have changed my perspective so I am changing the
perspective and shooting towards this side now. At this side, you can see that there
is magenta colour and the orange colour in the sky. So I want to capture these beautiful
rocks and the moss in the foreground, I want to capture that, and I want to capture the
sky as my background. And because it is quite dark now, I want to take a little bit of a
longer exposure.
