[Music "La Rebelion", Joe Arroyo y La Verdad]
>>Josue: Well, the purpose of the Spanish house,
is for the residents to learn more about Latin American Culture and Spanish culture,
and to develop their speaking abilities, their writing abilities, and reading abilities.
We put an emphasis on the speaking part
because most non-native speakers are good with reading and writing but they lack the
confidence of speaking it.
>>Jade: Spanish House has given me a great friend base of people who are really interested
in Latino culture like I am.
>>Josue: Well as a student coordinator I'm in charge of organizing all the programs,
the activities, and making sure everyone feels comfortable.
>>Emily: [in Spanish] For me, the Spanish House has helped me meet other people who
also share that passion for the Spanish language, culture, and dance.
>>Jade: Latin dance, basically, I love it. because it involves more interaction than
most styles of dance people use at clubs these days.
So if you're getting tired of going to Players on Franklin St. or some other place, and you
just want something different,
you should try to go to Spice Street in Chapel Hill or another Latin club because you actually
have more interaction between guys and girls.
I would recommend Spanish House simply because, especially if you're not a Spanish major or
you're not taking Spanish classes, you may not be pushed to learn more about Latino culutre,
or spend more time speaking the language outside of class.
