Hey guys it's Thomas from um... buystraightrazors.co not .com I registered it without an "m" so
anyways uh... today I'm going to show you how to begin using a uh... shavette. uh...
this is a shavette it's kind of like a disposable straight razor. So I'm going to show you how
to use uh... start using it without uh... cutting yourself. uh... you know I used it
awhile ago and didn't... really wash it off I'm not sure if you can see the hair in there
it's kind of nasty so I'm going to replace the blade so I'm going to pan down real fast
and make it easier for you to see so give me a second.
Alright so basically to replace this so we're going to pull this red insert out-out of the
handle and then we're going to open this bad boy up and uh... once we open it up, you can
see here this blade goes right in there and so we'll pull this out like that and then
we can stick a new one in there and uh... the shavette it just takes a, it takes the
same blade as a uh... what they call a DE razor or a safety razor and so basically I
bought these uh... it comes in a little pack like this. I bought it at a local drug store.
I think it was like $5 for a pack of ten but it's a pack of ten but there's two blades
on it so a normal what they call a DE you'd have a handle down here and then it'd fit
on top like that and then you'd use that to shave and it kind of bends it, it kind of
bends the razor blade like that, you know to different angles, but for our use we're
going to snap this in half so we're going to fold it like this and just break it and
so once we have it broken we take uh... one side of it and then uh... not sure if you
can see this... I really should have cleaned this off before I started the video but there's
little plastic bumps or little plastic indents right there and right there
and so... clean this off
Alright so there's that little plastic indent right there and so that shows us where to
put the blade in
soooo, so we have the blade in and we fold it ummm....
this didn't exactly go in right
so you fold it back in *** so you fold back in it looks like that and then you just insert
it in back into the handle.
and so now, now that we have it inserted w-we can actually start um... shaving with it so
I'm going to pan over so you kind of... oh, wrong way sorry
Alright so now [clearing throat] you can kind of see this so you-you don't want to use it
li-like this right cause if you use it like this then you're going to cut yourself you
also don't want to draw it across your skin otherwise you're going to cut yourself so
the easiest way is to kinda lay it flat as much as you can and then you just start drawing,
you should be able to feel like, feel the hair cutting and then you can lift-raise the
angle of it if it's not cutting. So if you have it too flat you know it'll rub against
your skin and not cut and so you can just slowly raise it until it's cutting, cutting
your hair um... wh-when I first started out using it you know I uh... I uh... wanted to
do it on my arm cause I'm not too fond of cutting my face you know I'm not sure I don't
really like butchering my face especially when you're new so you know, your arm gives
you like a nice place to cut so you can k-kinda see the hair that just came off my arm. So
your, your arm is kind of like a nice place to like begin cause it's easier to access
you know you're not having to do like uh... here like when you're new when you're new
to new to like straight razors you... or even a shavette you know, you know this can-kind
of awkward like this you know tightening your skin or going like this or whatever where
as your arm it's pretty easy just to lay it flat and then once you have that down you
kind of know what angle to hold it at and to cut the hair that way you're not cutting
yourself uh... another rec-recommendation I-I would make if you're going to do it on
your arm and you have hairy arms like me uh... do it on the uh... underside of your arm cause
no one's going to notice you know a little bit hair missing on the underside of your
arm uh... my, the first time I did it I did it on the back side of my arm and I kind of,
like, have hairy arms so I went like this and then all of a sudden I had this huge chunk
of missing hair so it looked really awkward so I ended up shaving the rest of my arm off
but uh... the funny thing is but then you know then I had one arm with no hair on it
and the other arm with hair on it so then I debated shaving my other arm but you know
I decided to say screw it so I ended up having one arm that was shaved and one arm that wasn't
shaved for about a month or two but anyways uh... I hope this kinda helps you get started
with a shavette so if you have any questions good ahead and feel free to ask. Talk to you
later. Bye
