Hey guys, Danny from Danny Mac's Kitchen I have something really cool for you guys
Today I'm doing a product review on something that I've never seen before
Black Garlic Have you ever heard of black garlic before?
Right? No, me neither I happened to be at a supermarket by my home
Trader Joes and I saw this I was so compelled to go to this product
I've never seen anything like it before I picked it up...I took it home
I spoke to the cashier about it She really didn't know much about it
She was really interested too She was like, "What are you going to do with
it?" I'm like, "I don't know I have to taste it"
I haven't tasted it yet I'm going to taste it with you guys
So let's see what it's all about From what I understand this was invented
around 2004, it's a process where they take the garlic and they put it in
an environment with high humidity hight heat, it takes about a month
turns the garlic black and changes the total flavor profile of it so I'm
really curious to see what it's going to taste like
Some people say it tastes like molasses, Some people say it's tangy, salty
You don't have the same like garlicky crazy like raw garlic taste that you would
have if you would eat it raw because everyone knows
egghhh!! Gross So I'm really happy to check this out
with you guys for the first time Let's see what it actually tastes like
and see what we can do with it! I am so intrigued
I can't wait to see what this is going to be like
Wow!! Look at that! Indeed!...It is black!
I've never seen anything like this in my entire life
Garlic like this? Wow! I can't wait to see how it tastes
So you're going to watch this with me this is my first taste test of black garlic
Wow! Not at all what I expected It's sweet, there is a citrusy background
to it It actually doesn't even taste like garlic
Wow, this is pretty amazing Mmm...never in a million years would I
have thought that a process of just taking the garlic clove and putting it
in an environment with humidity and high heat would have created a flavor profile like this
This is crazy Wow!
So what would I do with this? Um..It's very extremely unique
I foresee a couple of different applications 1 perhaps maybe as a spread
Maybe mixing it with mascarpone cheese Using it on toast for like appetizers
or something like that Definitely I could use something like this
in a sauce for gamier meats Like lamb or dear
Even I could totally foresee using this even in desserts, it has such a
distinct flavor profile similar to that of I wanna say like roasted figs if you will
Where we could put it with like a dessert profile or something
There are so many different applications My mind is blown, this is the
first time I'm tasting this so I'm like on overload
So I'm just giving you the ideas that come to my mind right away
but I'm really stoked to sample this and share this with you guys for the first time
It is such a unique ingredient That I've never even seen before
Check it out! Look it up online
Come up with your own ideas Let me know
Let's come up with something really cool I love it, what a great product
Til next time, Danny from Danny Mac's!
