Traditions can be born
with a simple idea or
inspiration.
A small group of Girl
Scouts in Manoa have
become a big part of the
Komen Race for the Cure.
That's because they make
a hand-made gift for each
of the survivors.

we're doing it for,"
They do it for the
survivors. 3 years ago,
these Girl Scouts heard
the story of Juliette
Gordon Low, the founder
of the national
organization who died of
breast cancer in the
early 20th century. They
tied that piece of
history to their current
mission .. to raise
awareness. That year,
they made 500 lei...

Last year I was at the
race.. and noticed these
girls handing out these
lei .. This year, i
just wanted to do a story
about them because they
really exemplify what it
means to be dedicated to
a cause.
Could tell they were so
enthusiastic about what
they were doing.. It just
caught my attention. xx
couple days later after
this picture was taken,
my wife and i welcomed
our first child.. A baby
girl-- and i remember
thinking i hope our girl
will one day have the
same heart and passion
for their community that
some of these girl scouts
have shown us.
