Welcome to the 2009 Portugal Day Festival Parade!
00:00:21.873,00:00:40.09 (singing Portuguese National Anthem)
ASSEMBLYMAN COUTINHO: It's time for me to call out our honorary Grand Marshall to make some remarks.
Let me tell you, this man has been a tremendous supporter
for the Portuguese community, presumably also for the Ironbound, for the city of Newark.
It is a great privilege and honor that I introduce to you Honorary Grand Marshall for the 2009 Portugal Day Parade:
Governor Jon S. Corzine!
GOVERNOR CORZINE: Hola! Viva Portugal!
It is great to be here on the corner of Ferry and Merchant
which is the heart of the Portuguese community in New Jersey, across this great state, across America.
Give it up for the Portuguese-Americans
that have contributed so much to all of us and made this a greater state and a greater nation, a great city.
And by the way, greater girth for a few of us as we walk back and forth across this great community.
It is wonderful to be here. We're building new schools here in the Ironbound and across Newark together.
We're providing health care for our children,
and we're celebrating our diversity every day here across New Jersey.
We're stronger because we're all together.
Doctor Carneiro from Portugal, it is great to be with you.
Thank you very much for being here.
The Portugese community is doing so much to make America better, to make New Jersey better.
God bless you all! Have a great parade!
Viva Portugal!
Viva!
Viva Portugal!
Viva!
Viva Portugal!
Viva!
