This is a video from EveryStepCalculus.com
demonstrating how my programs work on a TI-89 calculator
and other calculators in the TI system for physics and calculus problems
I'm going to differentiate a log to another base
uhm and let's get started for my menu you have to press second alpha
and put i n d e x letters in here and then press alpha and to put the
eight and the open and closed parenthesis press enter and you're into my menu
I'm going to scroll down to ah this time I'm going to scroll up
if you go up here you can go to the bottom of the menu here
where it's all alphebetical and were going to go up here to log problems
here were going to differentiate
so were going to press six can scroll down with the cursor
or press six, I'm going to press six and I'm going to choose number two
to do log to the base a and we're going to enter our function
you have to press alpha before you enter anything into these entry lines
in this case were going to have to press alpha were going to have to press then second alpha
that becomes black here in this little bottom part of the screen
so you can put letters in because we need to
there is no fuction to put log so we need to do that
log and then were going to press
ah alpha to put to the base let's put base five
and then we have to add the parenthesis and put in our
function ah six times x squared
I always show what you've entered you can change it if you want
so were doing log of base five to this function
you write all this down on your paper exactly as you see it
f of x is six x squared and the a is five
that's the base here's the formula
y prime equals the one divided by the quantity f of x times the log
of a and here's your answer
ahh pretty simple pretty neat huh every step calculus dot com
