Accessing funds on the Salemi
sustainable energy project series has
demonstrated a kind of tag team approach that
continues to gain momentum.
First, George Brown's Office of Applied Research
and Innovation has kick started several phases
of development on these interrelated projects.
Meanwhile, the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE)
"Connections" program has also provided three
rounds of funding for expenses and materials
on the projects.
Any funding from OCE requires cash and or
in-kind commitments of expertise and
resources from industry and community
partners who will also benefit from the
applied research.
The way that the Salemi team's revised
solar tracking technology follows the
sun is a metaphor for how these projects
have tracked and found sufficient funding and
support across a range of partners - from the
Kortright Centre itself, to
engineering, instrumentation and
software firms to keep the projects
well, on track.
