Why am I gaining weight intermittent fasting? I should be losing weight.
What matters is average caloric intake, not the fact that you fasted. If you ate twice
as much the day after you fasted than normal, you averaged just as much food intake as if
you didn’t fast at all.
I don’t pig out the days before and after.
Think of Muslims before Ramadan, having big meals right before sunrise and a feast after
sunset. They get as many calories as they would have if they hadn’t fasted, or even
more.
I would never go Muslim. Can’t stand hijab or guys who think they have the right to beat
me for not wearing it.
Some dieters use intermittent fasting by delaying breakfast until after they’ve exercised
in the morning. In those cases, the fasting is primarily intended to let them work out
hard first thing in the morning.
Burning off calories before they take them in.
But the same rule about having to manage calorie intake still applies.
I like using fasting to makeup for a pig-out.
That’s almost but not quite as bad as throwing it up or using a laxative. And fasting won’t
make up for stuffing your face.
Eat 2,000 calories one day, don’t eat 2,000. It averages out.
We tend to underestimate the calories we eat, so if you feel guilty about eating too much,
you probably ate a lot more.
But fasting allows me to make it up.
Fasting slows down your metabolism, so you burn less than if you ate some and were active.
What do you think I should do?
Watch what you eat and get moving.
I watch everything I eat.
I mean control your intake and limit it to something reasonable like 2,000 calories.
Intermittent fasting can’t make up for eating way too much the rest of the time.
Working out won’t burn that much.
It’ll cause your body to burn more calories the rest of the time.
But that’s more work.
And that’s your problem.
