Pentek CBR2-10 Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today we’re looking at the Pentek CBR2-10. This cartridge is very similar to the CBR2-10R.
The difference being this one does not have the flow restrictor, so you’ll get slightly
better flow through this cartridge but also less contaminant removal.
The CBR2-10 is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches
in diameter. It is a 0.5 micron, very dense carbon block.
Pentek’s internal testing has proven that this cartridge will reduce MTBE’s; that’s
methyl tertiary butyl ether, a nasty by product of fuel production, VOC’s, which are volatile
organic compounds, and also lead. All of these are nasties that you don’t want in your
drinking water. Now to increase the filter life of this cartridge,
Pentek has wrapped this cartridge in this white outer wrap that they call Endurawrap.
It’s a polyolefin bi-laminate that simply captures sediment and stops it from getting
in and clogging the carbon before it’s truly exhausted.
Now understanding your filter life with the CBR2-10 is a little difficult because it depends
on what you’re trying to remove from the water. If you’re simply removing chlorine
then the filter’s good for about 20,000 gallons. But if you’re removing lead the
filter life goes down dramatically to a mere 2,000 gallons. And if you’re removing VOC’s
and MTBE’s then you need to change the cartridge approximately every 500 gallons. So change
your filter based on whatever you are trying to remove from your water.
Again, this is the Pentek CBR2-10, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
Thanks for watching.
