JOAN: Well Creative Scotland wanted to do its bit in terms of helping with the youth
employment issues are around at the moment.
IAN: Industry recognised that there was a skill shortage and also an aging workforce.
ALISTAIR: What we were sold on the apprentice side was that because they are getting voccasional training
they tend to stay with companies.
JOAN: By working in partnership we were able to call on the support of all these other
organisations who have
been doing this kind of thing for quite a long time. ALISTAIR: A lot of the training costs we
can also get back
from the government.
JOAN: There's definitely been an injection of new thinking.
Also in terms of their expertise in social media
that has been really useful. ALISTAIR: We're getting a more cost-effective level of employee
but we are also able to train them in the way we want.
ALISTAIR: Have a look at it, see what potential benefits is going to give you and
maybe speak with other companies who have also had the same experience. IAN: It is hard work,
there's no doubt about that, but it is very beneficial as well because
if you can attract young people into the industry you can secure the future for
the industry.
