In this video I am going to show you how easy it is to import several layers that have already
been separated.
Open up your Make-The-Cut software and click the "Pixel Trace" button up here.
You'll notice that I didn’t have to make any changes to the import settings, that’s
because this image was a nice dark color and it was only one color, so it was able to successfully
trace it without any input from us.
Now because we will be opening up several files this time, we need to select "No" here.
This is another big file so let me zoom out a bit and lets open the second layer. This
one also traces fine on its own so I am going to click "Import".
I want to scale this down so I am just going to line them up.
Okay lets import the next layer.
So as you can see this one hasn’t auto traced. You'll find that some colors don’t import
well. So lets go over to the "Color" tab and trace via color.
Select the color. Then click "Apply Changes".
This last layer traced fine.
Now lets say you wanted to line this up perfectly. You cant see what I am doing, but by clicking
the layer you want to move and then using your arrow keys on your computer you can move
a layer up, down, right or left in very small increments. This comes in handy when you are
working on intricate designs or projects.
Now go to "Edit" and then "Select All" and lets scale it down a bit.
Now lets take those bland green shapes and make them a bit easier to tell apart. This
also helps you remember what shapes are what.
What we are going to do is change their color. This doesn’t change the color of anything
except what we see in the software, its just to help us see the separate layers
Click this little button here above the Padlock. It will open this color palette. You can select
any color you want, but I prefer to pick one that closely resembles the color of the part
in the image.
So I will choose red for his mouth.
Because we imported his eyes via the "Color" tracing function, it was automatically converted
to that color. So we don’t need to change that.
For his body I will choose a light grey.
And for his outline I will choose black.
And because we imported each layer independently we can move each layer as we see fit.
