Hi! Starting now another I Could Kill For Dessert!
And on today’s show I’m going to make a sugar apple pudding...
So, sugar apple is a fruit from the Amazon then...
It's not?
... and a tropical fruit smoothie...
... It’s good... but you have to make some noise to sip it...
... so the the show can be Amazon themed, shall we?
To start with the sugar apple fruit I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to use this,
cause these will have to turn into two cups and one third of sugar apple pulp.
Two hours later, everyone helped to peel the sugar apples,
and I hope that you also have such good friends to help you peel them too...
Here in the blender there’s one can of condensed milk,
and we’ll let it sit here for a while.
You’ll need 5 gelatine leaves and I will soak them in a little bit of ice,
a little bit of filtered water, let them hydrate here with the ice,
and now I will take the gelatine to the water bath! “But you need to drain the gelatine before that”
The gelatine is ready, now you just pour it here.
And take it to blend.
Here is ready.
If you don’t have this kind of tray you can put it all in a big tray. "Water the tray so the pudding won't stick!"
Let me tell you something, the sugar apple is not from the Amazon,
it’s from the Cerrado.
"History Class time." And it’s called The Count’s Fruit because of a man, The Count Miranda,
that planted this tree in Bahia in 1626.
Now what? Your hooked on History Channel now?
Just because it is exotic doesn’t mean it’s from the Amazon.
Soon you will be saying that Marilyn Manson and Lady Gaga are from the Amazon too...
“Aren’t they?”
So, now it’s going to the fridge, for more or less two hours or until it’s solid, ok?
So, now I have to make the syrup for us to put it on top of the pudding cause it has to cool.
It’s a light syrup made with sugar, lime and vanilla!
So, for this syrup you will need:
One cup of sugar.
One cup of water.
Half a lime’s strained juice.
And half pod of vanilla.
I already had half of a vanilla pod, cause I had already used the other half so...
Couldn’t it be vanilla extract?
No, here we need the pod cause we will use the extract also in the end when the syrup is ready.
So now we’ll get these little black seed here look...
"Today's tip"
The pod you put inside here too, but then you can get it out of the pan,
rinse it and you put it inside your sugar pot cause then you’ll have vanilla sugar!
And let's take it to the stove so we can make a light sugar syrup!
The syrup is ready, now I’ll take the vanilla pod
and let it cool here and then I’ll rinse it and put it in the sugar pot.
I’m going to put it in a little bowl and take it to the fridge.
Now just let it cool.
So, now I’m going to make the tropical smoothie.
To start I’m going to need one mango,
one orange,
one cup of coconut milk.
One very generous cup of coconut ice cream.
And now just blend it!
"A little bit of ice is always good!"
It’s done!
It’s almost a mousse...
It’s ready! Do you want some?
I do! A little spoon?
A spoon?
Do you think I should’ve added more coconut milk?
I do... this is more a like a “food” and not a “beverage”...
Hum... but it’s tasty...
The pudding has the right consistency...
The pudding that is not baked in the oven...
Now the problem is to unmold the pudding that is not baked in the oven...
Let’s try?
I was able to unmold the pudding!
Then you just pour a little bit of syrup on top.
it’s cold!
Do you want to try some?
Obviously, this must be delicious...
Is it good?
And this was today’s show!
I prepared The Count’s Fruit Pudding!
I prepared a Smoothie...
that turned into a mousse so it’s a “Smousse".
That turned out delicious!
I particularly prefer the mousse than the pudding...
I prefer the pudding...
So prepare both of them at home and decide which one you prefere best!
And that’s it, in 15 days we’ll be here again,
I Could Kill For Dessert, and you?
