(Dr. Michael Hoadley). Well, that wraps
it up for today.
I'm going to make just a few comments, but I do want to say
thank you to all of you for coming.
There's lots of challenges facing higher ed,
and Eastern Illinois University has demonstrated that you
can rise to the occasion.
These limitations that we have in the budget will not stifle
the determination, the creativity of the faculty,
staff, and students on this campus.
I know not everybody embraces the use of technnology,
but most people realize that it is important and it does
make a difference.
Students want that access 24/7 in all facets of their lives.
So EIU has responded to provide resources
in the best ways possible.
Examples include the new check out services at Textbook Rental,
wireless access to the network, efforts related to promoting the
capital campaign, improvements in office productivity,
online learning classes, social and mobile technologies
to share information and enhance communication,
training in the use of equipment and software,
and countless examples and instances where faculty utilized
multimedia and other technologies in their teaching
and research.
The list goes on and on.
This campus has definitely changed in the past decade
and the accomplishments of today's awardees illustrate
further why this is a day of celebration.
With collaboration, common sense, and continued input
from the campus, decisions about technology will be made.
I hope all of you continue to be part of that process
and help shape the future.
Always remember the CATS staff is there to help you.
Thank you.
