This is a MDF key/letter holder. A very interesting piece.
I will teach you how to make a marble in this piece.
Exactly!
This is the idea!
And to make a marble effect you only need Satin Volume.
Three colors, a suggestion, because you can change.
Satin Volume… you know that I love it!
It is a textured mass that comes in a bottle with a nozzle, only DAIARA has.
Twenty-four colors to work with.
That is the idea! I will teach how to make a marble effect with Satin Volume!
Three colors! Very easy!
So follow me here…
I want to show you how to get a marble effect with Satin Volume.
Checking the drawings on this piece, there are some details...
but I will put some more, I will make my marble more realistic!
Study the piece, look for a piece that you can really think it´s made of marble.
Thinking on increasing the piece, making more details...
I found this resin appliqué, look…
it has a rectangular format, doesn´t it? So it goes with the line of the piece.
and I will apply the piece of resin here, gluing right in the middle.
To increase my piece even more.
So you can glue this resin appliqué in the MDF
The ideal is use an instant dry glue, those that dry right away...
Just be careful not to glue your fingers, right?
Because these glues really work.
So look here, I will centralize...
because it dries fast, it dried already.
Let´s check to see if it is right, right?
Done, look here, it dried already, see how fast it is?
Then, glue a resin piece…if it is interesting for you!
After you glue it, let´s go straight to the Satin Volume.
That´s right!
So I chose three Satin Volume colors, if you want to take notes, pay attention.
I´m going to work with the Limestone that is more like beige, this you will use two bottles…
normally two to three, depending on the size of your piece.
I´m going to work with Topaz and Hail too.
They are three Satin Volume colors.
And the important part of this work is that I will work with hard brushes.
That brush with log bristles, look, preferably used!
Don´t need a new hard brush…
because you will work with mass, with Satin Volume.
It will penetrate here in the middle of the bristles
and will stiffen my brush, so it is not necessary a new brush.
The older the better.
Well, always before using the Satin Volume, shake it.
Because the mass sediments inside the bottle, so it´s important to shake it.
Then apply it straight on the surface, look here, look how easy!
I can spread the Satin Volume in a very big area...
because it doesn´t dry fast.
And then I will use the hard brush hitting, making it penetrates in everything.
All the corners.
When you do this, apply the Satin Volume with the hard brush...
It gets a texture. It will be rough.
Yeah!! It will be all rough...
Because I am doing it on purpose. This marble I named Marble Brute.
It is not polished. On its original form, right?
Well I am inventing, right?
That’s right!
I want you to follow and be able to do it in your house.
Marble Brute, have you done it?
So now you will be able to do it with Satin Volume.
An easy, fast and nice work to do.
Anyone can do it.
After you have applied a Limestone Satin Volume layer in the entire piece, inside too, very neat!
Dry it or let it drying, you will see that it gets a little transparent.
I can still see the MDF color, right?
There is a shadow, so I will apply another layer.
This why I said you would need two bottles of it.
You have to have a back without applying anything in the wood, without sand papers it.
Of course…here there is no need to apply a sealer.
You go straight on the wood with the Satin Volume.
It is a mass, isn´t it?
But it is a resin mass that protects your piece, resistant, right?
? You can´t remove later, right?
Look here, I made in a way ...
that the appliqué would stay connected to the piece, right?
All cover in the Satin Volume.
Now I will give the second coating...
on those places I think is still a little transparent.
That’s it! In some parts you can apply more...
and in others you can apply less.
So reinforce where you think is necessary.
I can increase even more my piece, yes!
I can invent more, right?
So look here…
I will make some details using the Satin Volume.
I will invent here some details to garnish it even more.
So you can make some small balls of Satin Volume...
Use a little angled brush to pull it...
turning it into a drop, invent, right?
Invent!!!
After you decorate your entire piece with the Satin Volume...
You need to let it dry, do not blow dry it, ok?
Do not force it to dry, let it dry naturally.
Continuing our marble…the piece is already dry.
You need to give it this time to dry;
it will not help to force it to dry.
The Satin Volume gets perfect when you let it dry all by itself...
Naturally. Look how it is!
Look the details I have done in my piece, it increased!
I put some details there, some in here, on the top, and down here too.
Well this goes according to your taste…
after it is all dry I will make the marble effect.
It is very easy!!
Once again I will use the Limestone and will open here the Topaz.
I will enjoy and leave it nearby.
I will need the same hard brush I washed and dried.
Again you wet the surface.
You can make a part at the time
Don´t need to do everything at once.
Here is just a thin layer to wet and open up the marble.
That is right.
So I will make just one part to start.
I wet it with the Limestone, right?
Sometimes the brush drops some bristles.
Don´t let it stay; take it off in the moment.
After you have done this...
Grab the Topaz and draw a line…
making the drawing of a streak.
Yeah! It is crossing the midle of the piece, isn´t it?
I will continue later because that part of the piece is not wet yet.
Take a look! I make a line with Topaz.
And now I will use other brush, also with bristle, right?
Because this will make much easier
because now I need a smaller brush to paint the marble streak.
In this case I am mixing the Topaz Satin Volume, right?
You are going to work artistically...
Pulling a bit here and a bit there…
Take a look!
You draw the streak according to your taste, pull, detach…
If necessary you can put more drops of Limestone Satin Volume
Or one more of Topaz.
You will decide it, mixing both, ok?
Look there.
Don´t we have the streak?
It is starting to show up, right?
Then you work on all of this space…
I will make one more here...
Pulling to the sides, while it is still wet.
I can pull it here, look…
Always on top of the damp Satin Volume, doing the streak effect with the Topaz.
Loose your hand, your imagination and creativity.
Go about mixing it with Topaz and Limestone using both brushes.
Leave the Satin Volume like this laying down on the table...
Because then you will not need to hit the bottle.
And go about mixing, making one color match with the other, look...
You increase the details that you want...
Until the streaks start to show up in the piece.
Well but it is not over yet.
Now here, after you have mixed both colors…
the Limestone with the Topaz…
Take a look to see how it is doing.
How pretty! Did you form the streaks, didn´t you?
Only on the front for now.
Then you will grab the Hail Satin Volume...
and on the same way I did with the Topaz,
you will apply here, making the white streaks.
One little line, will give a highlight.
But here you can use a little angled brush
and spread the satin volume strategically, artistically, right?
That´s right! Look here…
it gives a contrast
After it is dry, the Limestone Satin Volume...
will not get this way, so vivid.
The white matches a little in the Limestone...
and you will see it gets even more subtle.
It doesn´t get so evident.
So it is like this that you are doing the marble effect detailed.
Making it bright, dark, right?
This way, look.
To finish up the marble effect you will make the crack in the streak.
To finish up the marble effect you will make the crack in the streak.
You make the crack with a thin brush and the brown PVA paint.
Look here.
I diluted in this cup...
a portion of brown PVA paint with a little bit of water.
Grab the thin brush.
And you will pull;
highlight the streak, making an irregular line.
Making all the cracks.
Look how pretty.
You can make some separate cracks like this,
in the white part…
or in the Topaz part.
You will make in the entire marble.
Look how interesting, invent!
If you exaggerate and...
you think you have put on too much and you didn´t like...
you can retouch it
applying again the Limestone Satin Volume, paint on top.
That is one of the advantages of the Satin Volume!
And after everything is dry,
you can even retouch some corners
making a shadow with the angled brush and the brown PVA paint, this one here.
Use a little brush, with a drop of water and paint
and will make these details here
giving more depths to the streaks.
You have no idea on how much you can invent
Create, develop and make a marble effect like this.
Brute marble. What´s it name?
I don´t know.
There are 24 Satin Volume colors
to invent and make marble effects!
On a MDF piece, think on this!
