The club’s Opti team is very united
The secret of the success is the hard job and how intensive the training has been in 2013
I am their coach, but also consider myself their friend
My Opti group is the middle level one. I coach a team of 20 young sailors and although
we work hard for them to be good sailors and competitors, what we really aim for,
is to have a good group of people who enjoy the sea and the sport of sailing
I am very proud of the atmosphere in this team. All the different levels train and compete together
Education is a very important aspect in coaching. Us coaches learn and teach our young sailors how to loose and how to win.
We have a very good girls team in the 420 class, five teams have qualified for the Worlds
We have a good beginners group and basically our objective is to prepare and introduce them to competition
Although we have a very good team in the Laser Class, the expectations are even higher due to the top quality of the sailors, which creates some tension when in competition
My work is based on trying to support my team in all aspects and provide them with all they need
My team is great, although we might have different ways of thinking, when working together we all go in the same direction
My team is great, although we might have different ways of thinking, when working together we all go in the same direction
We are four coaches, have around 80 canoeist in our different categories, 60 of them have taken part in some official competition
With the youngest ones we mainly try to introduce them into the sport
As time passes we determine the interest of each kid and find out whether they are really interested in the sport or just like to enjoy it
What is very interesting for us is to promote sports activity amongst the youngsters and see how they develop once their character has matured
Our wish is to create athletes for “life” not for a short term
We take special care in the athletes mood, as not only the technical aptitudes or possible talent are important for us
This sports is very tough and demanding. Plenty of dedication is expected from each athlete
Since the very beginners we work on combining the effort, studies and competition
Then winter comes up after the initiation courses carried out in summer. The tough weather conditions carry out a “natural” selection
Those who complete the first winter will become a canoeist, for life
Our results have placed our competitors amongst the best five clubs in Spain due to our good results in Olympic competition
Our team is proud to carry the colours of the RCNP
“The world needs people who love what they do”
