when I was in Chicago, interviewing AstroWifey for NAILgasm: the nail art documentary, she
gave me my very first glitter gel manicure and I've been obsessed with it ever since.
Today I'm going to teach you how to create your own loose glitter gradient manicure with
your at home gel kit and craft glitters from your local craft store
you want to start with a clean palette - follow the nail prep directions that came with you
gel products to ensure that your nails are completely free of debris and oil. Once your
nails are clean apply gel primer. next apply your base coat, make sure none
of your basecoat is on your actual skin and cure.
once your base coat has been cured you'll notice your nails will be very sticky, which
is perfect for laying down loose glitter. next take your brush, I'm using a makeup concealer
brush and press it gently into your first glitter. Press your brush firmly down onto
the base of your nail don't worry if there's blank spaces where
glitter should be, we'll go back and cover those up later
continue with your next glitter color. cleaning your brush off in between colors
is optional
once your third color of glitter has been applied take another clean brush and gently
remove any excess glitter. then with the same brush press it down your
nail so the glitter is nice and flat for when we apply base coat
next, apply base coat and cure if you like the way your manicure looks at
this stage you can stop, but I"m going to add another layer of glitter to make this
mermaid inspired nail design more intense. once you are done applying your glitters,
take a clean brush and remove the excess glitter like before. Then press firmly down your nail
from the base to the free edge. apply base coat and cure
finish off your glitter gradient gel nail design by cleaning off the sticky layer that
has formed on top of your nails with the gel cleanser provided in your kit of 99% rubbing
alcohol. that's it, you're done, congratulations on
giving yourself some awesome glitter gradient gel nails.
if you want to learn how to remove the glitter from your makeup brushes keep watching
hold you brush over a trash can and run a toothpick or dotting tool through the brush
back and forth until the glitter is gone. that's it
