into early Thursday morning for
Washington, Newport and Southern
Bristol County, MA. Northeast
winds
30-40mph with gusts to 60mph.
The
strongest winds are expected
Wednesday night along the coast.
Winds of this strength are
capable of
downing some branches and limbs
and possibly lead to scattered
power
outages.
A WIND ADVISORY is in effect
for early Wednesday morning into
early Thursday morning for
Providence, Kent, Bristol County
in
RI and Northern Bristol County
in
MA. Northeast winds of 20-30mph
with gusts to 45mph are
possible.
Isolated power outages are
possible.
A WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY is in effect for far NW
RI
only... including Foster and
Smithfield... from 2pm until 7am
Thursday. A wintry mix of rain,
wet
snow and some sleet could make
travel difficult during the late
afternoon into tonight.
Accumulations should be a slushy
coating to 1" and will be mostly
confined to grassy surfaces and
car
tops.
TODAY: Increasing clouds but DRY
for the morning commute. A
strong
nor'easter will impact Southern
New
England by late morning with
increasing northeast winds and a
cold rain developing. The rain
may
change to a snow/mix (mainly in
the
higher elevations northwest of
Providence) in the late
afternoon and
evening before changing to plain
rain
overnight.
Northeast winds of 25-35mph with
gusts to 40-55mph Based on the
latest track of the storm, 1-2"
of rain
is expected, with the heaviest
rain
from Wednesday evening through
Thursday morning. Some
localized
street flooding in any heavier
downpours. Minor coastal
flooding is
possible for east coastal
Massachusetts from Boston thru
Cape Cod and Cape Cod Bay.
Coastal flooding on the Rhode
Island
south shore is expected to be
minimal. However, some
additional
beach erosion and very large
waves
and surf are likely. Highs in
the low
to mid 40s.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Steadiest
rain and strongest winds at this
time.
Temps in the upper 30's. Some
wet
snow and sleet north and west
route
295 in the higher elevations
including
the hills of western Kent
County, with
just a thin slushy coating on
non-
paved surfaces. Any wet snow
will
change over to cold rain
overnight

tapering to showers and lighter
