Hi. I'm Amy Grimes-Potter. I work in the Department of Communications and I'm a part time professor.
Right now, I'm teaching the magazine class, which is actually real one magazine production.
And in that class we produce a real magazine for students
Very hands on. In the class, students come in day one knowing nothing about publishing.
They write stories. They come up with story ideas. They design the magzine. They sell ads for the magazine, for the printing.
And to produce things like this, like a big event we're at today.
So, it's very real world, if you will.
It really prepares you for a lot of real world experience.
My major communications, but my intended career path is marketing and advertising.
And with this class I got a lot of experience with advertising
directly in face of a lot of clients, really going out and developing the advertisments.
So you get a lot of hands on experience that you don't normally get in a regular class setting
with just books and dry erase boards and things like that. It's really great.
