Today were going to change a Thermostat
were going to show how this job is done
its a simple and easy job
anybody can do it following these instructions
were going to do it right now and this part is the Thermostat
ok
in first place if the car is Hot
lets release the Radiator Pressure Cap Valve
thats this one
so it can release all the pressure
and you touch the hose
if its soft then it released the pressure
ok thats good now the pressure released
we have to remove the bolts holding down the thermostat
theres two
Fast Forward
this is the same for whatever kind of motor
ford
chevrolet any motor a 350 a 454 or v6 its the same situation
so you loosen it here
Fast Forward
on this car were seeing that it does open the thermostat
its open
but sometimes they fail to open
thats when it heats up
if we see this is how it works
little by little it will close
little by little it will close as it cools down thats its job
it starts closing little by little
thats when it gets hotter
but sometimes it dosent open
and it stays closed so the motor heats up more
Fast Forward
ok
it closed
lets clean it here
ok you clean it good
both sides here and here
to put the new Gasket
on this and that side
then will show how it should be
ok after cleaning here and there then
mostly all cars have a base for the thermostat to sit in
so it has to fit perfect
it has to fit in the base
because it can leak if it dont sit right
you can put it
with silicon or without but its better with it
for any little error the silicon will help fix it
Fast Forward
and if it has the sticker cover on take it off
Fast Forward
ok now we install it back
Fast Forward
tighten the bolts
Fast Forward
the only thing left to do is
is to level out the water
so will need
some antifreeze to level it out
just add as much as was lost
fast forward
and the rest you can put water
and it would be ready
the antifreeze helps the water not to freeze
and it helps keep the motor and radiator clean
if only water is used it turns everything rusty and nasty
and the hoses might get clogged
thats why its better to use antifreeze
ok thats it Thank You
