We're going to continue now with stringing a guitar. We had just found that holding the
string up about 3 inches above the neck is about as much slack as you need, while keeping
the string from going through the tuning peg with the left hand. Once you have that, hold
the string with your right hand so that it doesn't move, hold the guitar up, and begin
tuning the string by making sure that it goes around the outside before around the inside.
You'll notice that the string comes up along the outside of the headstock. Hold it with
your right hand, so you're pulling it tight, and the first time around, this is my personal
preference, a lot of people do this their own ways, but, I like to go over the string
the first time through, notice I went over this piece here. And then the second time
around, go underneath the hole where the string comes through, that will kind of sandwich
the string in there to prevent it from gaining slack. Now, when you start feeling the string
to get a little bit tense, stop there for a moment, make sure that the string is going
over the bridge here, in the right place, which it appears it is, and then it sounds
a little funny because we're not done stringing it up. There's a saddle up here, you want
to make sure it goes under the saddle. And you want to make sure it also goes through
the nut, which is this right across here. So now it's sitting in their properly, we've
got a little bit of tone and then we'll get to tuning.
